My grandmother had a green thumb. For most part, my memory of her was always in her backyard propagating her anthuriums or in her garden, tending her orchids. She had a lot! It got to a point that whenever there was a house party, the guests would go home with a full belly and a pot or two as #partyfavors.
When she passed away, my mother (was still working at that time) was not able to maintain all the plants. She was just able to keep a few plants but most of them were given away or left on their own. But just like my grandmother, my mother too is blessed with a green thumb.
Unfortunately, that #greenthumb was not carried over to the 3rd generation. Yes, I was a plant murderer!
1. The indoor bamboo plant my mother gave me for my office... didn't last that long!
My mother tried setting up a #hydroponic lucky bamboo plant for me ... lasted a little bit longer than the first one. Here's a sample pic from Wikipedia since mine died before I could take a picture of it.
2. A learner dropped out of our lesson for business reasons. He wanted to give me something that would last longer than chocolates. He gave me a #SpiderPlant to remember him by. Couldn't tell him how his plant was when I saw him again... after 3 months.
3. The beautiful orchid, Phalaenopsis, my sister gave me for Mother's Day ... died in 6 months.
But everything changed on my birthday back in 2018, when one of my clients sent me a #SnakePlant. To this day, it is still alive... well some of the leaves are!
Then, I learned about #succulents from my mother, who is a succulent aficionado. If these cactuses can survive in the dessert, I should be able to keep them alive, right?
To date, I have added some babies in my arsenal, a total of 8. Sadly 1 of them is now resting in peace.
Hope these babies survive, especially now that I have to #telework due to #covid19. Crossing my fingers and my #blackthumb.
