Little Pretty Blossoms

When I first heard of #花見 or "flower viewing", it surprised me why people would do it every year. I mean, sure, the first time you do it should be very exciting because the cherry blossoms are really pretty. But I thought, one should have his fill after doing it say twice or even thrice in a lifetime. Well, that's what I thought.

Thirteen years in Japan (there was one Spring that I was assigned overseas so that's not counted) and I can say that I have never missed seeing the blossoms, even during the #COVID-19 pandemic.

Why the change of heart? Maybe the fact that these flowers are fleeting? Or that they are so dainty that a gust of wind makes the petals fall? Or it's just shows I've been staying in Japan for so long that I have unconsciously absorbed this custom? Whatever the reason is, people really make it a point to see them.

So, I did again this year. #myjapanlife
