The New Normal

A lot of people flock in parks to do "hanami"(#花見) every Spring. Once, I even braved the crowd at Chidorigafuchi (千鳥ヶ淵) during lunchtime. So, it was a no-brainer when Tokyo Governor, Ms. Koike, with other governors from surrounding prefectures, released the call to refrain from visiting Tokyo last weekend. Tokyo closed down some city parks such as Ueno Park.

Despite the warnings made by the governors and the national government, some people just couldn't help themselves enjoy the cherry blossoms. That's when, I think, Mother Nature said to the Japanese government officials, "Don't worry; I got this." And then this happened...

Sometimes Mother Nature really has a terrible sense of humor. So, what did we do? We just drove to the nearest area with a lot of cherry blossom trees... stepped outside for a bit to get this...
